Resilient Roots Psychotherapy Services

Hello
I believe there is profound healing in being deeply heard through empathetic, non-judgmental listening. Resilient Roots Psychotherapy offers virtual, trauma-informed therapy across Ontario for adults navigating burnout, life transitions, and relational patterns.
You may find yourself getting through your days meeting expectations and doing what needs to be done while feeling disconnected, exhausted, or not quite like yourself.
If you feel stuck in an in-between functioning on the outside, but frozen on the inside you’re not alone.
Our work together creates space to reconnect with yourself and begin building a path toward healing that feels authentic, grounded, and sustainable.
My Story
Alicia Brown is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO #11872) and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.
Alicia brings over a decade of experience supporting adults navigating moments of crisis, loss, and major life transitions. Prior to entering private practice, she spent 10 years providing mental health crisis counselling with Durham Mental Health Services, where she worked with individuals facing complex and emotionally challenging circumstances.
Her clinical work integrates evidence-based approaches including Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Therapy. Alicia approaches therapy through a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens, recognizing the broader personal and social contexts that shape each person’s experiences.
Beliefs
I believe that meaningful change happens within safe, supportive relationships. Therapy offers a space where you can slow down, reflect, and explore your experiences without judgment.
I believe that each person carries strengths, resilience, and inner wisdom, even during times when life feels overwhelming. My role is not to “fix” you, but to walk alongside you as you reconnect with those strengths and develop new ways of understanding and responding to life’s challenges.
I also believe that our experiences do not occur in isolation. Cultural, social, and systemic factors can shape how we experience the world and how we relate to ourselves and others. For this reason, I approach therapy through a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens that honors each person’s unique story and identity.
At its core, therapy is a collaborative process. Together, we can create space for curiosity, self-compassion, and growth as you move toward the life you want to live.
Approach
My approach to therapy is collaborative and client-centered. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to support you in exploring your thoughts, emotions, and experiences in a way that fosters greater self-awareness and meaningful change.
In our work together, I strive to create a safe, compassionate space where you feel heard, respected, and understood. Whether you are navigating a difficult moment, processing past experiences, or seeking greater clarity in your life, therapy can offer an opportunity to slow down, reflect, and move toward healing and growth.
